Kindergarten

A place of growth and development

At our GISAD Kindergarten, the child is at the center of everything we do. Our educational approach is based on the belief that every child is an independent individual with unique needs and circumstances. We place great importance on recognizing and fostering each child’s uniqueness by providing them with the space to grow and develop. A healthy sense of self-esteem and self-worth is nurtured through a fear-free environment and strong relationships, enabling children to engage with others and successfully navigate new situations.

Our educational professionals lovingly and consistently support the children in developing their social skills and discovering their individual strengths and weaknesses. Through a variety of learning opportunities that engage all the senses, children are helped to discover and expand their abilities. In our kindergarten, each child’s uniqueness is respected, and our work is tailored to their needs and interests to best support them on their developmental journey.

The quality of the educational atmosphere is key to success. Our dedicated team works closely with the children, supporting them in their development and celebrating their achievements. Through this individual and holistic support, children are empowered in their independence and prepared for a successful school career.

The GISAD Kindergarten has 9 groups, each with up to 16 children. Each group is supervised by an educational professional and an assistant. Our small groups allow for targeted and loving care.

Pedagogical Approach

Our pedagogical approach is based on the Thuringian Educational Plan for Children. Education is an open, child-centered process. We stimulate educational processes and support the self-education process so that children can independently explore and understand the world.

Educational Areas in Kindergarten

Our pedagogical approach at the GISAD Kindergarten is based on the Thuringian Education Plan and provides comprehensive support in various educational areas to optimally promote children’s development. We place great emphasis on linguistic and literacy education, supporting language development through speaking, listening, reading, and drawing. This supports the exchange of thoughts and social participation. Daily activities such as greetings, songs, books, and rituals are central components of our concept.

Physical and mental health education is particularly important to us. We focus on healthy eating, exercise, and hygiene to help children develop healthy habits. Daily physical activity and hygiene rules are firmly integrated into our routine. Children discover nature playfully and learn about physical laws. Regular experiments and outdoor activities promote scientific education.

We spark children’s interest in numbers and mathematical connections by allowing them to discover patterns, shapes, and numbers playfully. Activities such as counting rhymes, dice games, and familiarizing themselves with time measurements and numbers from everyday life are emphasized. Musical education is another focus. Children experience music through singing, dancing, and playing instruments, which fosters their self-confidence and language skills. Daily singing, musical fantasy journeys, and rhythms are integral parts of our routine.

Children express their creativity through painting, crafting, and theater. We offer a variety of materials and projects to promote their artistic-aesthetic education. Picture book discussions, collaborative works, and theater projects are just a few examples. Children ask questions about the world and learn to think critically. We encourage reflection and discussion on various topics, helping them develop empathy and critical thinking.

Media education is also a key aspect. Children learn how to use books, CDs, and the internet. We provide pedagogical guidance and ensure age-appropriate use of media. Social skills and self-awareness are also emphasized. Children learn to be part of a group, experience appreciation, and learn to resolve conflicts. Table duties, group activities, and discussion circles support them in this.

Participation is an essential part of our pedagogical approach. Children are involved in decision-making processes and learn to express their opinions. This fosters their self-confidence and social skills. Through involvement and co-creation, children learn that their wishes, feelings, and interests are important.

German as a Foreign Language in Kindergarten

At the GISAD Kindergarten, we support the holistic development of children and prepare them specifically for primary school. A central goal is to impart the German language to ensure a successful academic career within the German education system. Through daily participation in kindergarten activities and specific DaF (German as a Foreign Language) offerings, children experience the language firsthand and receive individualized support. Our DaF team consists of certified professionals who work in small groups in a playful and holistic manner. Parents are actively involved in the learning process through regular homework and online consultation hours.

At the GISAD Kindergarten, we support the holistic development of children and prepare them for primary school. A central goal is to impart the German language to enable children to pursue an academic path within the German education system.

Through daily participation in kindergarten activities, children experience the language firsthand. Language promotion takes place during morning circles, playtime, meals, and in all educational areas. Additionally, children participate in specific DaF offerings that are tailored to their language level and age.

Our DaF team consists of two certified professionals responsible for language promotion in the kindergarten:

The DaF specialists approach children in a supportive and strength-oriented manner, speak slowly and clearly, and model the children’s utterances. The goal is to quickly engage children in speaking roles and provide a trusting learning environment.

DaF lessons take place in a separate, stimulating room. Children learn in small groups (2-6 children) in a playful and holistic way. We use the programs “KIKUS” and “Deutsch für den Schulstart.” Hand puppets like Mimi and Draco accompany the children and provide motivation.

Annual tests evaluate the children’s language skills to determine individual support needs. The tests are based on the “Deutsch für den Schulstart” procedure and are conducted in a child-friendly one-on-one session.

We work closely with parents. Weekly homework and learning materials are provided on MS Teams to reinforce the content of DaF lessons at home. Parents can review the topics and practice with their children. Online consultation hours offer additional support.
