Primary School
EXCELLENT EDUCATION & MULTILINGUAL SUPPORT FOR YOUR CHILD
The primary school at the German International School Abu Dhabi predominantly operates with two parallel classes, offering learning groups of ideal size. We place great emphasis on the joy of learning and the promotion of lifelong learning. Our international school supports a multicultural student body and addresses the diverse backgrounds of our students through differentiation and individualization.
We view the diversity of culture, origin, and ability as an opportunity to prepare students for the world of tomorrow. Language instruction plays a central role in this, with German at the forefront and English being taught from the very beginning.
Since summer 2023, we have offered the Flex Class teaching concept at GISAD. This concept allows students in grades 1 and 2 to learn individually and at their own pace by being taught in mixed-age classes. The model promotes independent learning and social skills by having older students support younger ones, thereby reinforcing their own knowledge.
FLEX CLASS IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL AT GISAD
Since the summer of 2023, we have introduced the “Flex Class” teaching concept at GISAD, which allows children in grades 1 and 2 to engage in individual learning within mixed-age classes.
What is the Flex Class?
In the Flex Class, students from grades 1 and 2 learn together in the same room and are guided by a dedicated teacher. This model promotes individualized learning at each student’s own pace while maintaining social interactions.
Gradual Implementation
The Flex Class is being introduced gradually. In the 2023/2024 school year, there are four first-grade classes that will transition to mixed-age classes the following year. Pre-school children regularly visit the primary school to prepare for the school routine.
PRIMARY SCHOOL SUBJECTS
Our diverse curriculum at GISAD aims to comprehensively prepare primary school students for their future educational and life paths. We promote confident use of the German language, flexible and independent thinking, as well as orientation and responsible action in the real world. Through the early introduction of foreign languages and specialized support programs, students develop comprehensive language skills.
CARE AND SUPPORT IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
We offer a variety of care and support options outside of regular school hours. Our programs are designed to promote the holistic development of children and provide them with a safe and stimulating environment after classes. In addition to homework support, we offer numerous activities tailored to the interests and talents of the students. For more information, please contact our full-day coordinator, Heike Bereket.
